Avoid Scams and Fraud

Shopping for real estate online offers great convenience but also carries the risk of scams and fraud. At Mestate.us, we work hard to ensure that our platform remains safe, but scammers are constantly evolving. Staying alert and following our tips can help protect you from falling victim to fraudulent activities.

Please be aware that Mestate.us does not participate in any property transactions and cannot refund your money if you are scammed. While we strive to ensure a positive experience, we cannot guarantee that all listings are free from false or fraudulent content.

What We Do to Keep You Safe

We verify listings submitted by trusted real estate developers and agencies.
We promptly investigate and remove listings flagged as suspicious.
We fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in fraud investigations.
We continuously monitor suspicious activity and pursue legal action when necessary.

What We Ask You to Do

Be vigilant when browsing listings. Look out for common red flags, including:

Deals That Are Too Good to Be True
Listings priced well below market value are a major red flag. Scammers use low prices to lure victims into sending payments quickly.

Requests for Wire Transfers or Cryptocurrency Payments
Legitimate property managers and landlords will never ask for wire transfers, Cash App, Zelle, Bitcoin, or other untraceable payment methods. Avoid transactions involving international bank transfers or escrow services not directly verified by you.

Requests to Use External Payment Services
Scammers may impersonate reputable services like Airbnb or PayPal. Only make payments through trusted platforms after verifying their authenticity.

False Claims of Affiliation with Mestate.us
Mestate.us does not participate in transactions, collect payments, or handle deposits on behalf of landlords or renters. Any communication suggesting otherwise is fraudulent.

Landlords with Dramatic Stories
Be cautious of landlords claiming they are currently abroad, in the military, or experiencing a family emergency. Scammers use these stories to avoid in-person meetings and pressure you into paying immediately.

Refusal to Meet in Person
If the landlord or agent refuses to meet in person, it is likely a scam. A legitimate agent or landlord will be willing to show the property before asking for a deposit or payment.

How to Report Scams
